Our Church – A Legacy of History

“The history of the Calvary Seventh-day Adventist church is a rich one filled with stories of faith and triumph.”

In the early 1900s, a small company of first place of worship believers organized to form the beginnings of what was to become an historic faith community. This group of believers met and worshipped in various homes until in 1910 they built the first house of worship at 1222-30th Street in the city of Newport News. Shortly thereafter, under the leadership of Elder J. B. Mallory, a church school was established with classes being held in a room adjoining the sanctuary.
